Annual Meeting
The Institute holds its Annual General Meeting in June every year normally after a course or conference and alongside a Council meeting.
The annual dinner follows. (See Downloads for a report of the 2008 event)
The AGM is normally a formal affair but it is the sovereign body of IHIE able to change the Memorandum and Articles which set out governance.
Past general meetings change the name of IHIE, opened the way for CEng and created new grades of membership. Such significant motions are normally considered for legal reasons at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).
All corporate members can vote at general meetings. Motions are normally considered at and proposed by the March Council meeting and members are notified in April of May issue of Highways of the agenda etc.
