The training is for those working in Demelopment Management and can help to advance your career. This course can lead to Engineering Technician registration with the Engineering Council (UK) and the National Vocational Qualification 3 in Transportation (NTQ3).
Employers can be confident that holders of the IHE Professional Certificate are qualified practitioners.
The training programme has been developed by TMS Consultancy in partnership with the Southern and Eastern Development Control Forum and IHE. A unique feature of the course is that learning is assessed through completion of four assignments.
To go on and gain the full IHE Professional Certificate, candidates present their assignments or a portfolio of work at an interview carried out by two assessors who measure them against the development control Statements of Competence. Experienced practitioners can apply direct for the Professional Certificate by compiling a portfolio of documents produced at work to present at an interview.
The training consists of a six day residential course. There are two sessions, 2-3 months apart, each three days in duration, with associated assignments. Students' line managers are expected to mentor and actively support their staff attending this course. They are welcome to attend at a discounted daily rate to assist the training.

Surrey has put several of its Transportation Development Control Officers and Assistants through this worthwhile course.
It is the only course in the UK which provides such a good understanding of the diversity of subjects encompassed by DC. We will certainly be placing more people on the next course.
