DC Training
IHIE leads the field in the provision of training and information for highway development control practitioners.
The Introduction to Development Contol course explains the basics to new staff.
In 2005, in partnership with the Southern and Eastern Development Control Forum and TMS, the Insitutute launched a comprehensive six day training course for engineers new to highway development control. After completing four marked assignments, delegates are awarded a Foundation Certificate.
The course can be followed up with an interview which tests applicants rounded competence at Foundation (technician) level and leads to an IHIE Professional Certificate and can link into an NVQ3 and EngTech registration.
The Professional Certificate is also open to those who have sufficient experience and who don't need to attend the training programme. There are no entry requirements nor do you have to be a member of IHIE.
In Scotland, the Scottish Executive has commissioned Transport Scotland to provide a similar assessed 6 day course tailored to Scottish law and practice. This course is also recognised by IHIE.
