Recognition for NVQs and SVQs

NVQ3s access EngTech

  • Relevant level 3 NVQs and SVQs meet IHIE's academic requirements and satisfy the first stages of the review, leaving you with only the second part of the Technician Review to do, a report and interview.

NVQs/SVQs and IEng

  • NVQ/SVQs at level 4 and 3 can access the Technical Report Route to IEng. Click here for Document IE4
  • These NVQs/SVQs at level 4 exempt you from the first part of the professional review ('IPD'):


    Transportation
    Highway Management
    Site Management
    Project Management

  • Individual NVQ/SVQ units can provide proof of achieving the Institute's IPD objectives, which are the first stage of the professional review. Applicants need to use the Evidence Summary Form to show how their NVQ units meet the review statements of competence set out in Document IE2
  • NVQ units can provide structured continuing professional development, which meets the 'CPD Day' requirements of the professional review and demonstrates a structured approach to development in a CPD Plan.
  • NVQ and individual units can contribute towards further learning, to top up post-1999 Higher Nationals, science or building qualifications to degree level. Ask IHIE for a Career Assessment
