Making your national contribution

You can help, with others, to develop and build the status of professional engineers and technicians.

  • CEng and IEng members can mentor colleagues from their initial development through to the professional review. IHIE helps with training and advice. Email secretary@ihie.org.u to volunteer
  • EC registered members from all grades can also act as reviewers for the Technician Professional Review. Email to volunteer
  • Experienced engineers can apply to become reviewers for CEng and IEng applicants. Full training induction and support is given by the Institute. Selected senior reviewers provide IHIE's national training advice service. Email for a reviewer application form.
  • If you have an interest in education and training you can maintain standards and ensure that academic qualifications, such as degrees and Higher Nationals, remain relevant to industry by becoming an assessor for the Joint Board of Moderators. You will visit colleges in a small team to investigate their resources etc.Training is given. For more details click here.

Science and Engineering Ambassadors visit Schools

  • Become a Science and Engineering Ambassador. If you would like to share your passion for science and engineering with young people, go to www.stemnet.co.uk
  • The Construction Ambassadors Scheme allows you to promote your industry in schools and offers presentation training.
