Your rights as a member
IHIE is an open and democratic Institution. IHIE is run by a national Council of elected members. You can seek election and vote.
- The Institute has fifteen regional branches organised by local members. Your participation will be welcomed. You can also start up your own local activities.
- At head office there are six staff who support the work of IHIE.
- There are also many networks of IHIE members offering advice and support to the public, the profession's employers, other members and aspiring members. You can be a mentor, a reviewer, a course accreditor, or contribute to IHIE consultations.
Fellows, Members and Associate Members of IHIE can:
- vote at all branch, national and Institute meetings
- be elected to Council
- use designatory letters (FIHIE, MIHIE, AMIHIE) to demonstrate professional competence
Graduate Members and Student Members can:
- sit on branch committees (all branches are run by local members)
- serve as branch officers (except the posts of chair and vice chair which are reserved for corporate members)
- vote for 2 representatives to sit on Council
