Joint Board of Moderators
IHIE Joined the JBM in 2003. The Board accredits degrees, Higher National and equivalent academic courses leading to chartered engineer and incorporated engineer registration. It covers civil, structural and associated engineering disciplines in the built environment sector. The website includes a list of approved qualifications.

Engineering Council
The Council is the engineers’ registration body for the UK. IHIE is a nominated and licensed institution of the Engineering Council. Peter Dipper FIHIE is a member of the Council’s governing senate.

ETB (Engineering and Technology Board)
ETB is changed by goverment with responsibility for promoting science, engineering and technology. It works alongside EC(UK).

Institution of Civil Engineers
Another Engineering Council institution with whom IHIE has close liaison. Members can access the institution library. For the English for Professional Review distance learning course go to: www.ice.org.uk/edunet/

Institute of Asphalt Technology
IAT is the professional institute for the asphalt industry. IAT members can apply to register IEng and EngTech through IHIE thanks to a mutual support agreement.

Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors
ICES is a learned society and qualifying body for engineering surveyors.

Construction Industry Council
CIC brings together all the construction professional bodies and is the professional’s link with relevant government departments. IHIE is a CIC member.
